Sans volant officiel dans la catégorie reine depuis cette saison, Esapekka Lappi revient par la grande porte dans un mois pour participer à domicile au rallye de Finlande au volant d’une Toyota Yaris WRC là où il y a quatre ans maintenant il avait remporté sa première victoire WRC avec cette même auto.
Après un dernier Monza Rally en décembre dernier où le Finlandais terminait au pied du podium, il avait dû se résoudre à se tourner vers le WRC-2 à l’Arctic et au Portugal où avec une Polo R5 il s’imposait dans sa catégorie. Lappi va pouvoir exprimer à nouveau son talent avec le matériel adéquat pour se montrer en vue de la saison 2022 sur laquelle il pourrait alterner avec Sébastien Ogier avec la troisième Yaris WRC officielle de l’équipe.
